Canada’s Junior Cadougan is one of the most appealing prospects in the 2009 class. Cadougan has certainly expirenced his share of life’s hard taught lessons. Cadougan’s ranking and level of play have fluctuated greatly over the past 3 seasons.

Cadougan was raised in Canada, however he and teammate Olu Ashaolu currently attend the Christian Life Center Academy in Houston Texas. The pair have experienced their share of ups and down together. In September of 2006 Sam Ashaolu and four of his Duquesne teammates were shot in Pittsburgh PA. For Cadougan the expeirence was all too familiar. Cadougan’s 4 year old sibling was also shot outside of his family’s home, so he can compassionately relate to his teammate and best friends struggle.

I couldn’t believe it man”.  Cadougan said

“It’s kind of weird for it to happen to me and happen to my boy,”

As a freshman while attending Community Christian in Stockbridge GA, Cadougan’s talent was evident. Cadougan averaged 18.8 points per game and was named to the USA Today All Fresham Team

Freshmen (class of 2009)
Player Ht. High school, city PPG
Kenny Boynton 6-3 Ely, Pompano Beach, Fla. 21.0
Lance Stephenson 6-4 Lincoln, Brooklyn, N.Y. 20.8
Terrell Vincent 6-6 Montrose Christian, Rockville, Md. 9.6
Junior Cadougan 6-0 Community Christian, Stockbridge, Ga. 18.8
Shawn Williams 6-6 Duncanville, Texas 11.0

Cadougan was also a member of the 2006 Canadian Junior National Team. The 2006 team also featured one of the top shooting guards of the 08′ class in 6’3 Devoe Jospeh. Jospeh will be a freshman this coming season for Coach Smith at Minnesota.

Cadougan has been criticized at times for his weight. The expectations have been tapered for him, developing into a 5 star player was once thought possible, but now looks out of reach.. Cadougan has gotten stronger, but is just an average athlete.

Cadougan sports a 4.0 gpa and is an astute student. Cadougan recently dropped 20 pounds and now is a solid 6’1, 190. Cadougan has many offers on the table including Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Providence,Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC. Memphis is seemingly the leader for the Canadian’s services at this point, with UofL strong in the mix. Cadougan seems to be a lot closer to a 3 star caliber player rather than 4, though he could develop into a great player. I know that UK has a lot of options in front of him, but as names are slowly falling of of the list, most recently Fred Gulley  to Oklahoma State. Look for Cadougan’s name to possibly resurface as a backcourt option.
